Docs Updates

Templates library update

All templates have been redesigned for a smoother workflow, with new widgets like Dot Voting and People Widget. Additionally, Intelligent Templates now include a SAFe methodology pack and daily sync templates. These enhancements integrate Miro AI, Sidekicks, and interactive tools for improved engagement.

eDiscovery

eDiscovery is an API that enables admins to identify and collect relevant Miro data to help them ensure legal compliance. 

Enterprise Guard Updates:

• Legal Hold: Enterprise Guard’s legal hold functionality enables admins to find, preserve and export information related to legal cases or investigations. With Legal Hold, admins can make sure boards are prevented from permanent deletion and preserve versions of boards indefinitely to prevent spoiling of evidence.

• Intelligent Guardrail Block sharing outside allowed domains: Admins can set up lists of permitted domains per board classification level and automatically restrict sharing outside of allowed domains to ensure a safer collaborative environment.

Data Residency in the US 

Customers who require data residency in the US can now be provisioned in our US regional workspace. 

New admin interface

The Miro Admin Console has a new look and feel, informational architecture, and navigation to help enterprises expand their Miro deployments. This new admin interface improves configuration workflows, enables admins to get to their resources faster, and reduces time spent toggling between pages.

Admin 2FA Resets

Admins now have the ability to reset 2FA for any users that are obliged to use 2FA due to the policies set by the admin. This provides a smooth resolution for 2FA sign on issues without needing to escalate to customer support.

Planner updates

• Filter by active sprint: Users can see all tickets by default. To focus on the current sprint, turn on Active Sprint filter via the Filter icon in the top-right menu after selecting Sprint. 

• Add unassigned to Planner: Users can filter or organize unassigned tickets into a column or swimlane for better visibility and workflow management.

Alignment scale

Capture group sentiment with Alignment scales, offering a dynamic way to visualize how everyone feels. 

Spinner wheel

Add a touch of fun with Spinner wheels, randomly selecting options from a spinning wheel. 

T-shirt sizes

For task estimation, offer an intuitive alternative to Story points by using T-shirt sizes.

Miro AI attribution

In the info tab in context menu, users can find information for content generated using Miro AI, where it will state that the content is created by “user X, using Miro AI”. This is applicable for Sticky notes, diagrams (shapes), images, docs, clusters, sticky notes translation, stickies capture. 

Updated Audit logs retention policy

Indefinite retention of Audit logs is being updated to 180 days retention policy.

SCIM email change validation rules 

We have updated the validation rules for changes to email addresses via SCIM. To enhance security and ensure proper management of user accounts across multiple organizations, we have added a managed user check, target email domain verification, and domain control and SSO verification.

Enterprise Guard: Microsoft Purview Integration 

The Microsoft Purview integration enables admins to import their sensitivity labels from Microsoft Purview into Enterprise Guard to standardize their security processes.

Enterprise Guard: Legal Hold

Enterprise Guard customers are able to create legal holds based on users and their actions to help them comply with legal requirements. In a few clicks, admins can create new cases based on specific keywords, users or user actions and gain access to unlimited board version history.

The Content Lifecycle Management solution introduces UI improvements to simplify content governance for admins, including smart and quick filters, persisted views and improvements to the search experience. 

Trusted Device Rollout: Enhancing Security and User Experience 

The new Trusted Device feature speeds up two-factor authentication (2FA) logins by reducing the number of prompts on trusted devices while maintaining security. Users can manage their trusted devices from their profile, and admins have the flexibility to enable or disable the feature and set trust duration between 7-90 days based on compliance needs.

Audit log improvements: Filters, Export in CSV, and data availability

The updated audit logs feature allows enterprise admins to filter logs by criteria like actors and event types for faster access to relevant data, and export logs in CSV format with a higher event limit. While events older than 90 days will no longer be viewable in the UI or API, they remain accessible via CSV export. 

Enhancing CanvasEngine — OffscreenSystem optimisation enabled

The Canvas object detection logic has been refactored using an ECS approach to improve stability and performance. This update makes canvas panning 56% faster and zooming 33% faster on large boards, while also slightly enhancing loading times for huge boards and moving multiple widgets.

Summarize comment threads with Conversation Summaries

Conversation Summaries uses AI to help you summarize long comment threads on the board, so you can quickly grasp the main points and prioritize work more efficiently.

Call on an Agile Coach, Product Leader and Product Marketing Alliance AI Sidekick to get a second pair of eyes on your work. Get feedback and suggestions on your work in the form of comments, or understand next steps from a retrospective.

Intelligent Widgets

With Intelligent Widgets, users can make meetings more efficient and help complete common tasks automatically. There are four widgets available: People Widget, Dot Voting Widget, Story Points Widget for estimation, and Polling Widget.

Intelligent templates

Intelligent templates are designed to make workflows more efficient and keep teams engaged during activities like sprint planning, retrospectives, and roadmapping. Intelligent templates include AI, interactive tools, and integrations into a single streamlined experience.

Enterprise Guard: Intelligent Guardrails Update

Admins now have two options for rolling out Intelligent Guardrails in their organisation – with Default mode, Guardrails will not affect active sharing options on the board, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing collaboration. With Strict mode, guardrails will override all active sharing options. 

Enterprise Guard: Content Lifecycle Management Release 

Content Lifecycle Management is a solution within Enterprise Guard and enables Enterprise Guard admins to govern the lifecycle of their content at scale by decreasing the administrative burden on admins by automating retention, disposition and trash policies according to company policies. 

Audit log improvements: Filters, Export in CSV, and data availability

Audit logs enable admins of enterprise organizations to identify and respond to security events, conduct forensic and internal investigations, and meet compliance obligations. With this update we improve the experience of accessing the information they need. Filter audit logs by standard criteria such as actors and event types for quicker access to relevant information (previously in beta). Easily download audit logs data in CSV with a higher limit of events per export, and faster and more convenient access to export file. Events older that 90 days will no longer be available for preview in the UI or via API. However, this data will still be accessible via CSV export.

Quick & Intelligent Diagram Creation

We have improved  our existing quick diagramming controls and suggestion algorithm, including previews, to improve efficiency and ease of use for users communicating complex information through diagrams.

License requests management for Enterprise customers

To help admins manage license requests and increase request acceptance rate, we are introducing in-product license request management functionality. Company admins will get the visibility of all pending license upgrade requests they have and the ability to manage them.

Remember me 

We introduced a “Remember me” option to our Sign-in flows. Users can now save their email, name and authentication type (e.g. SSO, email credentials, social, etc.), so that when they sign in to Miro with the same browser in the future, they can provide fewer inputs and sign in faster. It also creates a more personal sign-in experience.

Idle timeout configuration for Miro on Interactive Displays

Idle timeout is a very important security measure to ensure unauthorized users can't access content on interactive displays (both accidentally and intentionally). The length of the idle timeout is set to 15 minutes by default, but company admins can set a custom idle timeout that works best for their organization. 

Improved visual feedback on object selections

When selecting objects, the selection follows their contours and highlights the widgets within, with selection lines shown while hovering. Controls for sizing and rotating are hidden when moving objects to reduce visual noise.

Tailor diagrams with custom shape packs

Custom shape packs let you tailor diagrams to your specific industry or project needs by uploading your SVG shape pack into Miro. Improve clarity and create impactful visualizations with custom shapes that accurately represent your needs.

Visualize AWS architecture

The new AWS Data Import tool [beta] helps you to easily and quickly import data from your AWS account into Miro as infrastructure visualizations. Quick diagram improvements

Quick Diagram Creation (QDC) has become much easier to use with the addition of large arrows to guide users when creating new objects and users can now cancel the action by hitting the escape key on their keyboard. QDC has also become more intuitive by not appearing for locked objects or when moving, resizing, or rotating objects.

Suggested objects improvements

When using Quick Diagram Creation on any object, it will show you a preview of the object. The placement of the object and line has also been improved, making it easier to expand your work without having to re-adjust the layout and placement of objects.

Action shortcuts for Estimations

Based on the content within your canvas section, you can create action shortcuts for either Fibonacci or T-shirt size Estimations. When it's time to begin, simply press start to launch your Estimations app pre-sets instantly, allowing your team to focus on productive discussions without setup delays.

Real-time updates from Jira OAuth 2.0 via webhooks

We've made it easier for Jira Cloud users to get real-time updates in Miro. Now, with OAuth 2.0, you can set up webhooks to instantly sync changes from Jira to Miro. Just be sure you're an admin for both Miro and Jira, then follow the steps in 'Apps & Integrations' to enable this update.

More filter options in Planner

We've updated Planner to make filtering easier and more flexible for everyone. Now, all fields used as columns or swimlanes can also be used as filters, benefiting both Jira and Azure Planner users. 

Action shortcuts for Dependencies 

Action shortcuts provide an easy way to access the Dependencies app from your planning board. When you click the "Show now" button, the Dependencies app opens and displays all the connections (dependencies) between work items (Jira cards or Azure cards) on your board.

Miro Accessibility Checker

Create the most accessible Miro experience possible. Check boards for color contrast, frames, and whether or not alt text has been provided for images.

Test SSO configuration

Admins can now test their Miro SSO configuration before enabling it to minimize any operational disruptions.

Snap-to-grid improvements 

Align objects on a grid layout to keep your diagrams, presentations, and other content well organized. Enjoy more precise snapping when moving objects, and snap-to-grid functionality for line grid and connector lines.

Visitor mode available in Miro mobile app

Now Miro board visitors — users who haven’t registered with Miro — can join public Miro boards using the Miro mobile app.

Tags on sticky notes and cards now more accessible

When you add a tag to a sticky note or card, Miro will automatically choose the color of the text based on the tag color, checking the color contrast to optimize for accessibility.

Automatically generate diagrams from text using AI

You can now use Miro Assist to create UML class diagrams, UML sequence diagrams, flowcharts, and ER diagrams by typing in a text prompt. Once the diagram is generated with AI, it is fully editable.

UI improvements to drawing tools on interactive displays 

Instead of having to navigate through submenus, we have simplified the layout on interactive displays so customers have all essential tools — pen, highlighter, eraser, and lasso — right in the main creation toolbar. 

Accessibility improvements

We have improved the accessibility of Miro with various assistive technologies, including speech recognition tools, screen readers and keyboard navigation.

Idle session timeout enhancements

We've made some updates to improve transparency around session timeouts and provide users with more notice before being signed out.

Automated domain verification process

Admins can now verify their domains in-app. By adding a domain in the Managed domains section, admins will receive immediate domain verification instructions. Once completed, admins can either go back to Managed domains and check their domain verification in real-time, or Miro will automatically check for their verification status every 2 hours for 30 days, eliminating the need to go back and forth to Miro’s admin console.

Org Chart widget

Visualize your company's structure and hierarchy with professional-looking organizational charts. Improve collaboration, identify new hires opportunities, streamline decision-making processes, and align the org with areas for investment and growth.

Assignee field for Planner columns and swimlanes

Users can now add an assignee field to columns and swimlanes in Planner for Jira to help support team events such as sprint planning and stand-ups.

Story point fields on Azure cards

We have added a story point field on Azure cards, which allows users to see story points (if available) and add them directly via the edit card side panel.

Move objects forward or backward incrementally

Users with editing rights can now move objects on a canvas one layer forward or backward at a time, making it easier to organize boards with multiple layers of content.

Sticky Containers for AWS & Salesforce Diagramming Shape Packs

We upgraded our existing AWS Groups and Salesforce Card containers for diagramming. Now, these smart containers are sticky, maintain the layout and size of elements, and can be nested. 

Miro Assist Suggestions for Image Alt Text

Board creators can now use Miro Assist to provide suggestions for alt text for images, making the process easier and more efficient.

Talktrack security updates 

Talktrack is now available to customers who have requested their content be hosted on US data centers (previously only customers with EU data residency had access). In addition, Talktrack now offers full support for Encryption Key Management.

Improvements to classification configuration

Accessibility: Color Palettes Show the Color Name in a Tooltip

Color pickers provide a text description of the chosen color, to convey color information to color blind users as well as people with low or no vision. This information is exposed visually via a tooltip on hover (not yet on keyboard focus), and semantically via an accessibility name for screen reader users.

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps Integration

Connecting Miro to Defender for Cloud Apps gives you improved insights into your users' activities and provides threat detection using machine learning based anomaly detections.

Change Board Background Color

Change the background colors of your boards to dark gray or black for comfort, or light blue, violet, purple, pink, yellow, or green to add your personal touch.

Recent boards in search

Easily locate recently opened boards just by clicking on the dashboard’s search bar. Before you even start your search, the results will populate with a list of recently visited boards.

Additional control over managed users 

Enterprise admins can now control all Miro access for deactivated managed users. 

Audit log disposition policy

Manage the content lifecycle of your audit log and free up storage. Admins can set the date to delete the content.

Authentication audit events now reporting at organization level

Audit log performance and traceability have been improved, by decreasing the number of authentication events.

Redundant copies of sign_in_succeeded, sign_in_failed, and sign_out_succeeded audit events at team level were removed. Learn more in our Developer Changelog.

Trash discoverability is now easier

Now, finding the trash menu is so easy — it’s right up there in the top-left menu, alongside Recent and Starred.

All board objects can now be used accessing the keyboard alone

You can now use the keyboard to navigate rough content in three different ways:

• Linearly: Go through objects from top-left to bottom-right (Tab) or bottom-right to top-left (Shift+Tab)

• Spatially: Move up, down, left and right through objects (Cmd/Ctrl+Arrow keys)

• Hierarchically: Move in (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Arrow Down) and out (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Arrow Up) of container objects.

These three ways enable you to efficiently move through and interact with a board using the keyboard alone, meeting a key accessibility guideline.

Expiration of links to public boards

Enterprise company admins will be able to expire the link to any publicly shared board based on inactivity. The counter will be customizable and measured in days.

Secure external collaboration with Two-factor authentication (2FA)

With 2FA, Enterprise company admins can require non-SSO users to go through an extra identity proofing layer when logging into Miro. When 2FA is toggled on by the admin, all users authenticating with email and password will be required to set up 2FA the next time they log in. We offer TOTP login (Time-based One-time password) which supports most authenticator apps.

Bulk Conversion of Sticky Notes to Jira Cards

Convert up to 50 sticky notes into Jira cards in one go. Cluster sticky notes by author

Clustering helps you quickly organize team input generated in meetings and workshops and make sense of large quantities of sticky notes. Last month, we released an update to allow users to cluster by color or tag, and this month we introduced clustering by author to give you even more options when sorting through information. Create and edit Azure DevOps work items from Miro, and turn sticky notes and Miro cards into Azure cards. All changes are automatically reflected in both tools, so you save time not needing to switch back and forth between them.

Allow teams to control collaboration - Enterprise Company-level invitation setting

The Company-level invitation setting allows Enterprise FLP company admins to separate team user management from license management. Admins are able to choose on a Company level who can add new members to the account. The Company invitation settings are now in the security section of your admin panel. 

This new setting works together with the current Team invitation settings. Team-level settings define who can invite to that particular team and the Company-level settings control who can invite new members to the account.

Use object dimensions and create consistently aligned designs

Paste content from spreadsheets directly as tables to Miro 

Import existing structured content into Miro boards more easily than before: simply copy content from the spreadsheet, and paste it into Miro using ‘paste as table’ option appearing in the pop-up on the board.

Alternatively, you can still paste content from spreadsheets to Miro boards as sticky notes – there is an option for that as well.

Announcing Miro’s first Accessibility Conformance Report issued by Level Access 

Miro partnered with Level Access to audit our product and issue an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) based on Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) that determines how compliant Miro is with standards for IT products accessibility. ACR will be regularly revised and updated to capture all accessibility updates being worked on by the Miro product team. 

The purpose of the ACR is to help Miro customers make informed decisions when starting to use the product as it allows them to understand Miro’s levels of accessibility compliance.

Streamline projects from ideation to delivery with Smartsheet + Miro

With the two-way sync between Smartsheet and Miro, teams will be able to get projects across the finish line faster with higher quality. Move from ideation and alignment to execution by easily converting sticky notes in Miro to rows in a new or existing sheet within Smartsheet. Import rows from Smartsheet to a Miro board as cards when you need to collaborate in real-time on tasks.  All information will be updated in both tools – no matter where you edit them.

Enterprise Request Management updates

All requests for access now follow the request management flow set by the company admin: email all admins, send specific emails, create a ServiceNow or Jira Service Management ticket or redirect to a service desk. 

These updated board sharing flows offer also a possibility to add context to the request. When requests are sent to email or as tickets, users have the possibility to write a short explanation.

Data Residency for US customers

We now offer Data residency for US customers on new Enterprise accounts. For EU customers, we also offer Data residency for their production and backup data. 

Data Governance is now called Enterprise Key Management

We have also renamed our Data Governance offering to Enterprise Key Management. This is a paid offering that allows customers to own keys, stored in Amazon’s key Management Service, to encrypt files.

The Estimation app lets you add more to structure the process, increase the accuracy of your estimates, and gives everyone a voice with votes.

• Create Miro sticky notes and cards, or bring Jira development tasks onto a Miro board to make it easier to estimate, and add design files or diagrams for more visual context

• To make the estimation process more inclusive, give everyone an opportunity to cast a vote, empowering individuals and sidestepping the bias of group thinking

• Once voting is done, you can start an agreement session to go through results and focus on the tasks where team members disagree

• Remove the hassle of manually updating estimates in Jira and sync them with the click of a button.
