Engineering Manager

About the Team

Miro is on a mission to empower teams to create the next big thing. Our platform facilitates visual collaboration for millions of users daily, enabling them to brainstorm, design, and bring ideas to life. We're looking for a passionate and skilled Engineering Manager to lead our Tables team in Amsterdam.

The Tables team (Structured Modes stream) is at the forefront of Miro's structured widget capabilities. We are a small, highly experienced group responsible for enabling our customers to visualize and interact with first- and third-party structured content directly on the canvas. Our work is foundational, driving the seamless movement between multiple stages and accelerating Miro's adoption in the definition and delivery phases of innovation. We thrive on tackling complex technical challenges within our core canvas collaboration ecosystem, powering critical structured formats like Tables, Timelines, Kanban View and Documents, as well as high-impact integrations such as Jira.

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager for the Tables team, you will step into a pivotal role at the heart of Miro's collaborative canvas. This opportunity arises from the immense growth and strategic importance of structured tabular content within our platform. You will lead a highly capable team (~15 people) responsible for evolving and scaling Table platform that underpins how millions of users interact with our Table foundation and all the relevant capabilities that are built on top of that (e.g. Timeline View, Kanban View, AI-powered features and integrations etc). You will be instrumental in solving interesting technical challenges related to performance, scalability, and integration, ensuring our data table capabilities remain robust, innovative, and seamlessly integrated within Miro's ecosystem. This role demands a leader with deep technical expertise in FE rendering technologies (e.g. WebGL, Canvas2D), Java backend systems, Cloud infrastructure (AWS), and real-time data processing (WS), coupled with a passion for cultivating high-performing teams and a sharp focus on business impact.

What you’ll do

  • Drive technical strategy & roadmap: Lead the technical vision and roadmap for Table capabilities, ensuring alignment with product goals and architectural principles
  • Scale high-performance systems: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and performant backend systems capable of handling millions of daily transactions on our table servers
  • Foster team growth & excellence: Mentor and develop a team of highly experienced engineers, promoting a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Enhance cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to deliver impactful features and integrations that leverage table data
  • Optimize operational efficiency: Establish and maintain best practices for system reliability, monitoring, and incident response for critical data table services
  • Innovate table content experiences: Guide the team in exploring and implementing new approaches to enhance how users interact with and derive value from table content on the Miro canvas

What you’ll need

  • You possess strong technical leadership experience (5+ years of experience as a Engineering Manager), preferably within a high-growth SaaS environment
  • You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, capable of working effectively across diverse teams
  • You have hands-on experience with Canvas and realtime technologies as well as Java, PostgreSQL, and AWS services (our challenges are usually more on the canvas than on server side, given the specifics of our domain)
  • You are passionate about building and scaling complex, real-time, front-end intensive products with high-transaction backend systems
  • You have a proven track record of shipping impactful product features
  • You are results-oriented with a strong business acumen, understanding the impact of engineering decisions on user value and company goals

What's in it for you

  • Competitive equity package
  • Medical insurance coverage
  • Lunch, snacks and drinks provided in the office
  • Wellbeing benefit and WFH equipment allowance
  • Annual learning and development allowance to grow your skills and career
  • Travel allowance for your commute
  • Opportunity to work for a globally diverse team
  • Inspiring workplace in the heart of Amsterdam
